Stephen and David St. Russell, the duo behind Renovation Husbands, partnered with Sunbrella to complete their living room aesthetic with Sunbrella Taylor Curtains in White. This design and DIY duo enjoy a good project, so when they happened upon an abandoned 1893 Boston Victorian in 2017, it was love at first sight. They have spent the last several years renovating their home and sharing the process on Instagram and their blog.
The Living Room
Their living room features a beautiful, moody décor with dark-painted walls and warm, natural wood accents. The darkness of the design is contrasted by an abundance of natural light from large bay windows where light spills into the room for much of the day. Stephen and David say that the white drapery is one of the primary features of this room, providing contrast and a break from the bold décor, while drawing your eyes up to the brass rod details.

The St. Russell’s had originally planned to use brass clip rings to hang their drapery but loved the look of the back tab style so much, they decided to try something new. “We used panels to bookend the bay windows and used the center panels to bridge the gap—giving the illusion of a continuous rod. Now we have a nice clean line and love the update.”
The Perfect Finishing Touch
Stephen and David love this finishing touch to their living room design. “If we have learned anything during our time in this home, it is that incremental changes or improvements sometimes happen without planning. Inspiration can come from anywhere and a single update, which only you may notice, can make a world of difference.”
