Patti Wagner’s Dream Family Room

Patti Wagner is a former product designer turned design blogger with a deep love for homes, interiors, and renovations. Along with her husband, Brian, they thoughtfully renovate rental properties in their home state of Minnesota. When it comes to their own 1927 Tudor home, they have remodeled, renovated, and refurbished many of the spaces in their home.

This project was the family’s basement: Patti took what was a plain room with no major design elements and transformed it into an elevated, timeless family room using paint, some molding, and cozy, kid-friendly furniture made with Sunbrella fabrics! Check out all the details of her updated space.

The Wagner’s basement family room is their favorite place to unwind and blow off steam after a long day. While they love the room, Patti explains that they never took the time (until now!) to design it to their taste. Patti felt the designer’s itch to beautify the space and make it more her style.

“If you’re updating a family room space where comfortable, long-lasting, stain-resistant and easy-to-clean fabrics are top of mind, I highly recommend checking into Sunbrella fabrics.”

The Wagner’s started with an entertainment/movie area for the entire family to enjoy. Patti needed a way to keep things kid-friendly while also elevating the décor. They selected the Pottery Barn Square Arm Slipcovered Sectional with Sunbrella Performance Sahara Weave fabric in Ivory.

Next, they chose the Pottery Barn Jake Modular Ottoman with Sunbrella Performance Sahara Weave fabric in Ivory for a comfortable alternative to a coffee table with the benefit of added storage!

To complete their seating choices, Patti decided on the Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams Bella Bedroom Sofa with Sunbrella Performance Textured Two-Tone Linen in Taupe to create the perfect balance of style for the room.

For a rug, Patti chose the MGBW Acadia Sunbrella Flatweave Rug in Sand. “Not only does it beautifully anchor the space with warmth and won’t annoyingly curl up, but it gives me such peace of mind. No more worrying about spills or stains,” explained Patti.

For some finishing touches, Patti added Sien+Co pillows Cesta Coal, Cesta Linen, Sierra Dusty Rose, and Cesta Smoke, all made with Sunbrella fabrics. They’re the perfect touch to add a warm, classic style and great for mixing and matching.

The Wagner’s family room has always been a cherished space for the family, but now it’s more functional, infused with their own unique style, and ready to enjoy for many years to come! Check out Patti’s outdoor dining space and more project spotlights with Sunbrella!
