We have invested heavily in weaving technology and machinery to support our dedication to innovating unique and specialized fabric textures. In addition to our yarn bank, Sunbrella has extensively researched techniques to create extremely soft surfaces that mimic felt finishes, brushed wool and cut velvet.
Sunbrella novelty yarns achieve textures that are visually appealing and provide touches of comfort. Chenille, bouclé, ratiné and marled yarns, just to name a few, offer unique visual interest with distinctive color variation and surface effects.

All Sunbrella patterns are woven into the fabric, as opposed to prints which are applied to the surface of a base cloth with dye. Sunbrella fabrics build design and color into the structure of fabric, making them resistant to dye wash out and fading. It’s the foundation to our “color to the core” fabrics–durable Sunbrella fibers completely saturated with color.
In addition to creating specialized textures, our weaving technology and machinery allow us to create dimensional Sunbrella patterns with large repeats that can be used for a different range of aesthetics. Our extensive weaving capabilities also allow us to create fabrics that simulate various styles, such as embroidery, hand-loomed, and even painted-on techniques.
