Project Spotlight: Carmeon Hamilton's Outdoor Escape

Carmeon Hamilton is a designer and content creator inspired by the psychology and emotion behind a space. Carmeon adds depth to her designs by finding pieces that people can relate to; a tangible aspect of their personality that can be implemented into the space. We caught up with Carmeon to talk about her Memphis home where she used Sunbrella fabrics to maximize her outdoor living area.

Carmeon’s outdoor must-haves? Beautiful, comfortable, cleanable seating.

Carmeon recently upgraded her small outdoor patio by adding an expansive custom-built deck. She wanted a space that would be versatile and functional for her spacious backyard. The elevated deck features lounge seating, a dining area, and a custom pergola. Carmeon describes it as “a great extension of living space off the patio.”

Carmeon chose furniture that was modern with clean lines and white fabric that would pop against the dark stained deck.

It was essential that her seating options were “beautiful, comfortable, and cleanable.” Carmeon wanted furniture that was modern with clean lines and white fabrics that would pop against the black house and deep stained deck.

She chose the CB2 Naya Cast Iron & Teak Loveseat with Ivory Sunbrella cushions to meet these requirements. She chose contrasting pillows like the Sunbrella Canvas Black Outdoor Pillow from Crate & Barrel.

Carmeon’s seating area also includes Pavillion Outdoor Lounge Chairs with Grey Sunbrella cushions. The Pavilion collection is a part of CB2’s reissue of around two-dozen original Paul McCobb designs, originally introduced in 1952. Her outdoor dining area is furnished with CB2 Pavilion Dining Armchairs with Ivory Sunbrella cushions to complete the look.

“I wanted high style with low maintenance and longevity.”

Carmeon’s back deck project achieved a mix of style and functionality that gives the space a very grand and designed feel. She explains, “I love that I can spend a quiet morning out there with coffee or have a party and entertain all of my girlfriends all in the same space.” Carmeon’s renovated back deck is the epitome of outdoor living, serving as a highly functional and intentional outdoor extension of her living space.
