Anissa Zajac, the founder of interior design firm House Seven Design, recently redesigned her family’s sunroom with Sunbrella fabrics. The family-friendly sunroom gets utilized more than any other room in their home, so creating a welcoming space where every member of the family felt comfortable was a must.
“I love creating spaces that are comfortable and cozy,” said Anissa. “I layer different materials and use lots of textures to create very organic and neutral spaces. I also love using color in a way that is soothing to the eye and welcoming.”
Comfort is Key
Comfort was a must for the family sunroom, so Anissa was careful when choosing all the materials for this space. The goal was having comfortable chairs you can sink into along with lots of pillows. To achieve this, she chose The Perry Chair from Maiden Home in Sunbrella Performance Tweed Salt.
A window bench seat spans the length of the family’s sunroom. Anissa chose Sunbrella Ticking Dove to upholster the bench cover. Anissa added welcoming color to the space with custom pillows in a variety of Sunbrella fabrics. She tied in pops of color like Cast Ivy and Canvas Henna with neutral tones in Context Linen and Lure Pebble, adding in warm brown tones with Canvas Camel and Canvas Bay Brown.
Performance for the Whole Family
The former dining room turned sunroom was remodeled into a gathering space for Anissa and her family and friends. With plenty of cozy seating and natural light, Anissa can easily transition from entertaining guests in this space in the evenings to spending lazy mornings sipping coffee. “I never wanted this room to feel stuffy or untouchable. I always wanted it to be inviting and I feel like I achieved that with this design.”
“It’s so nice to have everything made with Sunbrella fabric so I don’t have to worry about spills or animal paw prints soiling the new space.”
Design Advice from Anissa Zajac
Anissa’s tip for redesigning a space in your home? “Find yourself a good upholstery person or seamstress if you aren’t able to sew items on your own. Then you can select your fabrics and order the correct amount with their help. Don’t be afraid to mix your color and patterns because this creates a room that is more interesting and fun!”
