Sunbrella Hot Pink Is Here!

February 24, 2011 by Sue R

Sunbrella® fabrics has added Hot Pink to its extensive color portfolio, bringing this fashionable hue to indoor and outdoor décor and signaling that consumers are ready to have fun with color again. Marilyn Monroe would have loved it!

Shown here, Sunbrella hot pink adorns the Orient Dining Chair by Century Furniture, with Meadow custom finish by Richard Frinier.

Fabric designers and textile engineers at Glen Raven Custom Fabrics, makers of Sunbrella, spent many months identifying the right shade of pink to offer in the new season. The color choice is validated by the recent Pantone® selection of Honeysuckle, a courageous, bold pink, as its color of the year.

“Pink is a much more versatile color than many people believe,” said Gina Wicker, design and creative director for Glen Raven Custom Fabrics. “Our first fabrics in this color family are livable yet sophisticated, ideal for furniture indoors and outdoors.”

The color has been rendered in two new fabrics – Canvas Hot Pink, a solid, versatile base cloth and Steeplechase Malibu, a preppy stripe that includes bright blues, white and yellow. Both fabrics are currently available to the design trade through Century Furniture. The fabrics are new introductions for 2011, the 50th anniversary year of the Sunbrella brand, and will be added to the Sunbrella furniture fabric stock book in the fall.

For outdoor environments, Sunbrella Hot Pink is a bright accent particularly when set against a green background of foliage and landscaping. When used on outdoor furniture, the color brightens its environment and becomes a focal point for shady spaces.

When used indoors, Hot Pink can be combined with cool neutrals such as blue and grey for a modern effect or added as a cheerful accent to solid white. The color also goes well with darker colors such as navy, adding to their sophistication. While neutrals still dominate for large upholstered pieces, pink is an ideal accent when it comes to decorative pillows, trims and more.

Sunbrella Hot Pink has also shown promise in the awning and shade industry, with great demand in coastal locations.

“We envision the new Sunbrella Hot Pink as a signature color of South Beach, the Hamptons, Savannah and any other location where outdoor living and fantastic style go hand-in-hand,” Wicker said. “We look forward to seeing the many ways Sunbrella customers and consumers alike take to this color and make it their own.”

I am looking for your new 2011 hot pink awning fabric and my local dealers claim that the fabric is not available. Where can I acquire the hot pink color for my awning?
    Thanks for your reply.
    Kathleen

  2. Gene says:

Kathleen, unfortunately your local awning dealer is correct. Hot Pink has not been added to our stock awning/marine collection. It is currently only available as part of our stock furniture fabric collection. However, it is potentially available as a made-to-order awning/marine fabric through a distribution partner such as Tri Vantage. Your awning dealer would need to contact Tri Vantage to inquire about such a possibility.

I’m in search of pink and white stripe Sunbrella fabric to make an awning for my vintage trailer. I have found items made from this fabric such as tote bags and pillows on the internet but cannot find yardage of this fabric. Any suggestions as to where I might purchase yardage?

    Thank you,

    Lisa

  4. Gene says:

Lisa, I’m sorry to disappoint you, but we do not produce a pink and white awning stripe. I did some googling and found a hot pink/white stripe pillow, but our folks think that fabric is a print on Sunbrella base cloth (we do not produce prints).

  5. Sandy says:

Love the hot pink. Many of our customers have been requesting bright colors. I hope you continue to add to your color selections.

i am looking to replace my commercial awning with a dark pink color. i am wondering is it avail to purchase for this purpose.. No one seems to make this color, the coco beach area had numerous pink awning, but no luck finding them in the eastern part of the us? please advise..!

  7. Gene says:

Sharon, there are pink Sunbrella awning fabrics available throughout North America, but whether a particular awning fabricator offers a pink is a different story. If you’ll provide your zip code I can most likely provide you with a list of awning fabricators in your area that should offer a pink fabric.

In solids we offer hot pink #4693 and salmon #4627 (see http://sunbrel.la/4627-0000 ).

  8. CC says:

Gene, can you please provide a name of a fabricator who stocks hot pink for awnings near Philadelphia, PA/suburbs (19428)? Thank you.

We’re working on it. Waiting to hear back from our sales manager for your territory.

Christina, the sales manager for your territory is going to email you directly.

I need an awning in your new “Hot Pink” for the Knoxville TN area. Who should I contact to get it?

  12. Gene says:

Michael, our sales manager for your territory will respond to you directly.

  13. Chrissy says:

I am looking for a pink and white striped awning material. I need the stripes to be approximately 2″ wide.

  14. Bill says:

We need a HOT PINK for cushions that sit out all summer in hot direct sun. To get the strongest most durable fabric, we want awning fabric. I see the many requests for hot pink in awning. Can you have someone contact me locally for HOT PINK AWNING fabric that we will use to make lounge cushions for ten chaise lounges by our pool….I think the furniture fabric won’t hold up long enough.

  15. Mollie says:

Hi Chrissy. We have a hot pink solid available through our Mayfield Collection, but do not have a pink stripe. You would need to have this stripe custom made by seaming together our pink and white solid fabrics. An awning fabricator in your area would be able to do this.

  16. Mollie says:

Hi Bill. If you are going to be making cushions, we recommend using our upholstery fabric. Our upholstery fabric has a 5 year warranty against normal exposure to the elements. Our hot pink upholstery fabric is called Canvas Hot Pink (http://www.sunbrella.com/showroom/#submit=thumbnail&screen=detail&style=5462-0000). On this page you can enter your zip code to find a retailer near you who sells this fabric. However, if you are interested in the awning fabric, it is part of the Mayfield Collection. You can enter your zip code on this page to find where it is available: http://www.sunbrella.com/showroom/#submit=thumbnail&screen=detail&style=4693-0000.

Please tell me where to find the centerpiece dish that is used in the ad with the pink cushions on the banquette. I am desperate for it. It looks like white shells holding pink and white flowers. Thank you so much. Ad appears in the most recent Traditional Home magazine.

  18. SK Smith says:

I found your colorful ad on page 41 of March 2013 issue of House Beautiful and visiting your site, cannot see any pink indoor cushions, nor slipcovers as the ad showed. Help!

  19. Mollie says:

Hi. Everything you mentioned in this ad is custom-made using Sunbrella fabrics. The pink pillows are made using Sunbrella Canvas Hot Pink. The slipcovers are made with Oliver Taupe, a Sunbrella fabric available through Lee Industries. You can contact a custom upholstery shop in your area for information on creating custom pieces like this in your home.
