Joe Ruggiero’s June Showtime Collection

Drawing inspirations from America’s rich cultural heritage, Joe Ruggiero will feature broad inspirational themes and deep colorways in his new Sunbrella fabrics debuting during the June Showtime event in High Point. Three new Sunbrella groups represent one of Ruggiero’s most expansive additions to his Sunbrella Collection since it first launched 10 years ago.

His new Sunbrella fabrics are comprised of three groups: Native American, Men’s Suiting and Coastal. Colorways within these new fabrics are equally diverse, recognizing the consumer’s love affair with monochromatic décor that reflects leading color trends.

Native American

The lead pattern in the Native American group is called Native and offered in Maze, Wren, Fossil, Putty and Gravel. This pattern was inspired by Native American rugs, presented as a modern day interpretation of America’s earliest hand-made textiles. A distinctive characteristic of the Native pattern is a rib that runs throughout the fabric, made possible by continuing innovations in Sunbrella fabric formation.

Anyone familiar with ancient cave drawings will recognize the inspiration for symbols created in the second pattern in this group called Tribal. The look is a pattern within a pattern, which comes alive through colors that include Aqua, Merlot, Chili, Gravel, Putty and Pumice.

Rounding out the Native American group are the patterns Lagos and Stitch. Lagos has the look of a native blanket, incorporating a series of beautifully woven stripes. Deep coloration is achieved with options in Aqua, Chutney, Chili, Graphite, Pumice and Dove. The pattern Stitch, as its name implies, emphasizes raised stitching, creating the look of embroidery. Color ways include Cloud, Brass, Putty, Barley and Velum.

Men’s Suiting

Nothing says men’s suiting like pinstripe, which is the look and feel of the pattern Hartley, evoking the aesthetic and the hand of worsted wood. Color ways are also classic menswear in Indigo, Char, Coal and Parchment.

The pattern Pebbles is named for its highly textural surface that evokes the ambiance of tweed. Look for colorways in Fossil, Maze, Wren, Moss, Oyster and Dusk, again reflecting color diversity in Ruggiero’s Showtime offerings.

Two other patterns of note within the Men’s Suiting group are Squared and Razzle. Squared is a window-pane design, but goes a step further with a highly textural surface typically associated with hand-woven fabrics. Colors include Robin Egg, Putty, Dusk and Wheat. Razzle finds its origins in men’s shirting fabrics, formed with small ticking stripes in the colorways of Melon, Wren, Cloud and Dusk.

Coastal

Max II is a lead pattern in the Coastal group, featuring alternating stripes that are formed from intricate textural weaving. Colors transition throughout the pattern, offered in Sea Glass, Putty, Sunset and Dusk.

Anyone who enjoys the look of broad stripes will be drawn to the pattern Uppland, which features eight-inch stripes. The graphic look of this pattern was inspired by Ruggiero’s visit to Uppland, Sweden, an historic locale on the east coast of Sweden. Colorways include Parchment, Graphite, Indigo and Russet.

The botanical pattern in the Coastal group is called Josie, which is an impressionistic creation of leaves and flowers that Ruggiero crafted following a Matisse-inspired design technique using cut-out paper forms. Josie is available in the colorways of Putty, Wren, Cloud and Barley.

Ruggerio’s new Sunbrella fabrics, along with the entire Sunbrella line, can be seen during Showtime in High Point on June 3-6. The Sunbrella showroom is located at 336 S. Wren St.
